about
Friday was sale day at the livestock auction barn. Farm and ranch families would come to town to get supplies, groceries, and pick up kids who had been at town school all week. A lot of cowboys would wind up in the local bars intent on blowing off some steam. A lot of steam was blown.
lyrics
Every time Tom Young would come into town
Everything would turn out wrong.
Maybe he didn't make it often enough
or maybe he'd stay too long.
Come Monday mornings, you could hear some story
How Tom did this or that.
He'd get a quart of Coors gurgling in his gut
Be trouble in no time flat.
Chorus: Look out, its Tom Young... got to be Saturday night.
Look out, its Tom Young... Mister, there’s gonna be a party tonight.
He says I might go to jail, it's just as well.
Gonna dance and holler some.
Ain't nobody sleeping until I get done.
Or My name is not Tom Young. (ooh yeah)
He worked real hard on his rawhide ranch.
Every day from dawn til dusk.
He could haul that hay, plow real straight
Not a bronc he could not bust.
Had a neck that was red, a white forehead.
A smile like a shy boy's grin.
But every month or so, into town he=d go.
And let the fun begin.
Not that Tom Young was a bad kinda guy.
It's not that he was mean.
I guess he'd bump into the wrong fellow, or
Maybe he'd say the wrong thing.
Somebody would start shoving, he wouldn't back down
Sure enough, there would be a fight.
He'd hit'em til they hollered, then he'd help 'em up.
And buy them drinks all night.
